The Dragons won another hard fought game this week against a resilient Troy Athens team by a score of 21 to 14.
The Dragons scored on their first possession with a drive that included nothing but running plays. The Offensive line Led by Senior Captains Ethan Ruhland, Spencer Murphy and Taylor Phillips was able to control the line of scrimmage and the drive ended with an 18 yard run by Cortez McKinley. The kick by Evan Moran was good and the Dragons were ahead by 7. For the remainder of the half the Dragons and the Red Hawks could not get much going. Very late in the half, Senior Safety, Brock Knowls scooped up a fumble at the Athens 30 yard line broke numerous tackles and was eventually tackled at the Athen's one yard line with just 4 seconds left on the clock. On the last play of the half McKinley plowed through the left side of the line to make the halftime score 14 to 0. In the second half the Dragons shot themselves in the foot with big penalties and fumbles. The Red Hawks fought back to a tie game at 14 to 14. With less than 2 minutes left in the game A.J. Palko punched a score in form 7 yards out to make the final score 21 to 14. Palko finished with 111 yards rushing on 15 carries, McKinley had 70 yards rushing along with his two touchdowns. The Dragon's Homecoming game is next week at home against Pontiac Northern.
