11/9 Lake Orion vs Macomb Dakata- L 14-26
As they say, All good things must come to and end. The Dragons ended the season with a hard fought battle against Macomb Dakota but came up short losing 14 to 26. Dakota scored to take the early lead 6 to 0. Lake Orion answered with a touchdown of there own later in the first half when Chad Nieswand made a great catch on a long pass from Chris Lum and the Dragons went ahead 7 to 6 after the Heath extra point. Very late in the half Dakota was able to move the ball down into LO territory, but had to settle for a field goal to make the game 9 to 7 Dakota at the Half. In the second half Dakota again started the scoring with a TD that put them up 16 to 7. The Dragons came charging back and scored after a long drive on a 6 yard TD catch by Sophamore, Mike Nelson. With the score now 14 to 16 the Dragons were on the move again. With 7 minutes to play in the game LO had the ball 1st and goal at the Dakota 10 yard line, unfortunately for the Dragons, Dakota came up with an interception to stop the Drive. Dakota then finished the scoring and used up most of the clock on their final drive and scored to make it 26 to 14.
So the Dragons finish the season with a very respectable 8-4 record. We were able to overcome many obstacles due to injury throughout the season. After a 1 and 2 start the Dragons rally to win 7 of their last 9 games, including 2 playoff thrillers at Romeo and Clarkston. |
