If you didn't see this game you missed another Classic grudge match between two arch rivals. The Dragons avenged last year's District loss by beating a very tough Clarkston team 30 to 27. Just 3 weeks earlier the wolves beat the Dragons 21 to 19 in another close game. This was was a back and fourth slug fest. The Dragons scored a Field goal by Jeff Heath on there first possession to take a 3-0 lead. The Wolves came right back and scored a Touchdown to take the lead back at 7-3. On the Dragons next possession Chris lum hit Ryan Broth on a 61 yard TD pass to take the lead at 10-7. In the second quarter Clarkston scored on a long pass and retook the lead at 14-10. Then the lead was traded again when Broth scored his second TD on a 10 yard run to put the Dragons up 17 to 14. Clarkston scored another TD late in the second quarter but missed the extra point. The half time score was Clarkston 20 and Lake Orion 17. In the second half the Defense stepped up and made plays to stop the Wolves Offense while the Lake Orion Offense continued to roll. In the Third Quarter Broth scored on a 23 yard pass from Lum and 9 yard run to give him 4 TD's for the day and give the Dragons a 30 to 20 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Early in the 4th quarter, Clarkston was facing a 4 and 8 at their own 40 when Lake Orion was called for unsportsmanlike conduct, a 15 yard penalty, which continued there drive and lead to there final touchdown to make the score 30-27 with plenty of time left on the clock. Clarkston started there final drive at their 40 with 7 minutes to play. The wolves drove the ball down to the Lake Orion 20 but time was running out. With no time outs left Clarkston was at the LO 22 yard line and facing a 4th at 8. Clarkston completed a pass that was about 2 yards short of a first down and the Dragon celebration started. Lum passed for 175 yards with two TD passes and no interceptions. Chad Nieswand had 8 catches for over 80 yards. Ryan Broth had 4 TD's, 2 running and 2 on receptions. Branden Oakes ran the ball for over 60 yards. The Offensive line gave Lum time all night. The Defense played great down the stretch and preserved a great win for the Dragons. Next week the Dragons travel to Dakota to take on the defending state champs.
