10/26 Lake Orion vs Romeo- W 24-21

WOW!  What a game!  The Dragons won a come from behind thriller at Romeo by taking the lead for the first time with just 1.5 seconds left on the clock.  The field conditions were awful, the middle of the field was a mud pit, and both offensives seemed to have the best of it.  Romeo's first drive ended with a quick touchdown on 4 plays.  Romeo's second drive looked very much like the first until Junior Defensive Back Robby Lentz intercepted a pass at the Lake Orion 3 yard line.  That interception, despite the wet and muddy conditions would be the only turnover of the game.  Late in the first half the Dragons mounted a long drive that ended in a Branden Oakes 5 yard TD and tied the game at 7 to 7 with just over a minute to play in the half.  Romeo was able to take momentum into the locker room with a late score and 14 to 7 half time lead
On the opening drive of the second half the Dragons had a 10 play, 80 yard, march that ended with another Oakes TD, this one from 15 yards out.  Romeo scored another TD and took the lead again early in the 4th quarter.  On the ensuing possession the Dragon's marched down the field and tied the game on a James Miller 1 yard run.  Once again Jeff Heath nailed the extra point and we were tied at 21 with just under 5 minutes to play.  Then the Dragon Defense took over and forced Romeo to punt, Giving the dragons the ball at mid field with about 2 minutes to play.  The Key play for the Dragon's on there last drive was a Draw play for 20 yards on 3rd and 10 that took the ball to the 5 yard line.  After one last attempt to run the ball into the end zone, and with no time outs left Quarterback Chris Lum had to get the offenses to line up so he could spike the ball to stop the clock with 5 seconds remaining.  Jeff Heath came on to the field to attempt his first field goal of the year.  After the Romeo coach called 2 time outs to ice Heath, the Junior nailed the game winning 22 yard field goal and the Dragons finally had a lead.  Final Score, LO 24 and Romeo 21.
This game was one for the ages and will set up a rematch of last year's District Championship.  Lake Orion will now move on to play at Clarkston on 11/2/07.
