10/17/08 Lake Orion vs Rochester Adams W 34-28
Validation! The headline on the front page of the Oakland Press sports page on Saturday was this one word. Coach Bell used the same word in his interview when describing what this game at Rochester Adams meant to his team. The Dragon victory at Adams was the first home loss for Adams since 2003. It was also the first loss for the Highlanders this season.
The Headline could have said FUN, because this game was start to finish fun. The Dragons Offense was clicking the whole game. The dragons did not punt the entire game. The same names were standouts in the skill positions. The holes that the offensive line made were massive. The line anchored by Captain Tyler Benson set the tone for the offense. Kim Bruce had 258 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, Mike Lott had 2 Touchdowns, one on a long run and the other on a pass from Sean Charette. Charette had one other TD pass when he connected with Charles Fleck on a perfect pass in the corner of the end zone. Maybe the most clutch play of the game was a 4th and 7 pass by Charette to Jeff Heath to allow the Dragons to run out the clock and keep the potent Adams offense off the field for the end of the game.
The Dragon defense gave up a few more points in this game then they were used too, but made big plays with big hits and were able to come up with some key turnovers that helped seal the victory. Some of the notable hits were made by DB’s Mike Heath and John Chanthakhot, and Linebackers, AJ Gill and Kane Hayes.
The Dragons have clinched a portion of the Red Division title in the OAA. A win next week against Clarkston and the Dragons are outright champs for the 2nd time in 3 years.
Go Dragons, Bleed Green!!!!
