10/3/08 Lake Orion vs Troy High W 36-3
Irony or Revenge? The Dragons visited Troy High and turned the tables. A year ago, in 2007, the Dragon Quarterback was hit hard and knocked out of the game in the first half. The Dragons could not overcome the loss of their star QB and lost in one sided affair. The 2008 version of the game was similar, but with the shoe on the other foot. The Dragons knocked out the starting QB of Troy in the 2nd quarter, the Colts couldn’t overcome the loss, and the Dragons took control of the game and won easily 36-3.
The Offensive line continued to block great the whole game. Running backs Marques Stevenson and Kym Bruce ran through big holes and then finished by running through defender arms all night long. Stevenson finished with 74 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bruce added 147 yards and one touchdown. Sean Charette threw a TD pass to Mike Heath for the first score of the game. Heath also kicked 4 or 5 extra points.
The Defense continued to show that it is everything we expected it to be with so many returning starters. Hard hits and great hands helped to cause 6 Troy turnovers in this game. One fumble that was snapped over the Troy QB’s head was scooped up by Eric Knoblock and ran 56 yards for a Dragon TD. Phil Serzo had a part in this fumble return when he threw the Troy QB out of the way while he tried to recover the fumble. The 1st team Defense has not given up a TD since Game 2. The Defensive backfield continues to play well. Good tackling by the likes of Booker, Lentz, Heath and Fleck coupled with great pass coverage. Charles Fleck made a spectacular interception this week when he tipped a pass to himself and made the catch while laying stretched out on the ground.
Next week the Dragons hope to clinch a playoff spot with their 6th win when they host a winless Royal Oak team. The Dragons need to not look past this team as Adams and Clarkston are games in the coming weeks.
