11/22//08 Lake Orion vs Dearborn Fordson W 38-0
Can you believe it!!! The Dragons do it again to advance to the State Finals for the first time in school history.
The game started off with a Bang when on the first play from scrimmage the Fordson Tractor Quarterback attempted a pass that was picked off by Senior John Chanthakhot and returned for a 32 Touchdown for the Dragons. The Dragons never looked back as both the offense and Defense rolled the whole game. For the remainder of the first half the Dragon Offense was able to score 2 touchdowns on runs of 45 yards and 2 yards by senior Branden Oakes. Oakes would finish the game with 127 rushing yards on 17 carries. The Defense played perfect and the Dragons took a halftime lead of 21 to 0.
In the second half it was more Dragons. The Dragon defense continued to make big plays. The D caused 5 turnovers throughout the game. The Dragon Offense didn’t stop and added scores on a 3 yard run by sophomore Dan Ney, a 32 yard Field goal by Senior Jeff Heath and topped off the scoring with the 5th and final touchdown of the game on a 31 yard run by sophomore Marques Stevenson.
The Dragons game today showed that they have become a complete team this year. The Offense, Defense and Special Teams have all made significant contributions on this 4 game streak in the playoffs. The coaching has been equally terrific. The opposition has played hard but the Dragons have continually fought back and are now just one game away from their first State Championship.
Next Saturday at 1:00 the Dragons will try to avenge their only loss of the season against the Rockford Rams. Rockford beat the Dragons in week one 17 to 7 at Eastern Michigan Stadium. Rockford is not unfamiliar with Ford Field or the State Championship. The Rams won the state championship in 2004 and 2005 and lost to Dakota in the final in 2006. The Dragons will have to play hard and make few mistakes to get that final win.
Come out and see the Dragons at Ford Field. High School football is the Best!!!!! |
