10/31/08 Lake Orion vs Utica Eisenhower W 7-0

The 2008 playoffs started with a tough match-up for the Dragons.  The Utica Ike Eagles gave the Dragons all they could handle.  The first and only, score in the game did not come until just over 1 minute was left in the Game.  Fortunately, that score was by Senior Brandon Oakes on an 18 yard run and it was what the Dragons needed to win 7 to 0.

 The defenses of both teams made plays all day.  There were not many times that either offense got inside their opponents 30 yard line.  In the 3rd quarter the Eagles attempted a short field goal but it was blocked by a diving Senior John Chanthakhot.  Early in the 4th quarter the eagles tried another field goal that was wide left.  There were a number of memorable hard hits and sure tackles by the likes of Evan Gros, Jeff Heath Charles Fleck and Eric Knoblock.

The offense was able to move the ball most of the game but tough Eagle defense and untimely penalties seem to stall all the drives.  The Dragons final drive that ended in a TD was mostly runs by Oakes.  The biggest play of the drive was a 4 and 8 pass from Freshman QB Sean Charette to Senior Jeff Heath for a 10 yard gain and first down.  The Dragons scored a few plays later. 

Next week the Dragons will take on the Romeo Bull Dogs who would love to avenge a very tough playoff loss to the Dragons in last year’s playoffs.
